Ex – Private School Teacher Sentenced to Three Months in Jail Plus Probation for Child Porn

 

Christopher Ingvaldson, 43, a former private school teacher is guilty of possession of child porn after police discovered it on his Facebook account. The pictures were on his home computer and laptop of photos of boys from Saint George’s School. He was fired in 2010 after he was arrested. Judge William Kitchen says “How and why Ingvaldson became involved in these matters is beyond understanding,” because of his strong family support and success in school and field hockey. He was in possession of 41 images of of pre-pubescent boys and girls being sexually assaulted by adult men. These images however were determined that these were not photos of the students that he taught. 

Other information reveals that prior to working at Saint George’s School, he taught as West Point Grey Academy with former friend, Justin Trudeau. According to the sentence, Ingvaldson had alcohol problems as a university student. He quit drinking in 1994, but later became addicted to sex and porn. They also discovered that he was not only in possession of legal porn, but also illegal porn when Australian police caught him as part of the group on Facebook “Little Girls Like To Play Too.” 

Ingvaldson has shown remorse and attended therapy. “I have lost many things since being arrested in June 2010; a marriage, a career that I loved, numerous friendships, respect in the community at large,” Ingvaldson told the court. The judge imposed a harsher sentence because of his position and the severity of the offences. The judge also revealed that Ingvaldson gave others access to the pictures. 

Ingvaldson will provide a DNA sample and be added to the sex offender registry for 10 years. He also faces a five year ban from communicating online and working or volunteering in a position of trust with people younger than 16, though he may communicate with his nieces and nephews.

This is a very serious offence that Ingvaldson committed. In my opinion, Judge Kitchen should of given him a longer jail sentence. A man like this should not be out free and be able to access these photos of vulnerable minors who are not really aware of what is going on.

TEEN BURNED IN KELOWNA, B.C.

The RCMP has recently charged a 20 year old man named Matthew Sweet-Grant after a deliberate attack on an 18 year old boy. The victim was passed out and was sleeping while the suspect poured liquid on his back and thew a match that started the fire. To add on to his, another 18 year old boy named Joshua McWhirter was filming while this was occurring. Police believe that this wasn’t the first time Sweet-Grant has lit someone on fire based on their investigation. Two Kelowna men, Matthew Sweet-Grant, 20, and Joshua McWhirter, 18, have been charged with aggravated assault and remain in custody. 

This relates to Law 12 because of the severity of the crime. The accused are both being charged with aggravated assault which is defined as wounding, maiming, disfiguring, or endangering the life of the victim. Aggravated assault is an indictable and carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison. The two accused are currently in custody and remains innocent until proven guilty. Their court day will further determine their innocence and how much they must pay for it.
